Colorado’s Animal Heroes

Recognizing heroes and celebrating the human-animal bond.

Colorado’s Animal Heroes is an annual awards program of the Colorado Veterinary Medical Foundation (CVMF) that celebrates the human-animal bond by recognizing animal heroes as well as people who have profoundly helped make Colorado a better place for animals and people.

Award Categories
Hero Award –
Awarded to an animal that has saved a life or prevented an injury
Human-Animal Bond Award – Awarded to an animal that has demonstrated the bond between animals and humans
Service Award – Awarded to an outstanding service or companion animal
Youth Animal Advocacy Award – Recognizes the efforts of a youth who has made a notable contribution to the health and welfare of animals
CVMF Volunteer of the Year – Recognizes the outstanding contributions that volunteers make to enhance the animal welfare community
Human Hero Award – Recognizes an individual who has made a notable contribution to the health and welfare of animals 

How can you nominate a hero?
Colorado’s Animal Heroes has been honoring the people and animals of Colorado for 10 years. All of our award recipients are nominated by members of the community. If you know an outstanding animal or an amazing human advocate for animals—we want to hear from you! Nominations are accepted throughout the year.
